Barrett's Esophagus (BE)
BE and the associated adenocarcinoma are diseases of increasing incidence. Our lab aims to analyze BE on a new mouse model and translate the findings into human pathology and clinical settings.

Gastrointestinal Stem Cells
Stem Cells are important for tissue homeostasis but may contribute to tumor devlopment as cancer initiating cells. Our lab aims to analyze this contribution in inflammation induced carcinogenesis with a focus on BE.

Tumor Microenvironment
The stroma consist out of mesenchymal lineages, immune cells, nerves, and matrix. Our lab aims to analyze the role and function of the microenvironment in inflammation induced carcinogenesis.

GRK 1482: Inflammation and Obesity
There seems to be a correlation between inflammation induced carcinogenesis and obesity, which we aim to analyze in this GRK1482 supported project.
